Roger S. Marin
Director, Counter Insider Threat Office
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)

Roger Marin was appointed Director of the Counter Insider Threat Office in October 2022. In this capacity he leads NGA’s mission to deter, detect, and mitigate threats to NGA personnel, technology, information, and systems through the analysis of data sources to identify anomalous events and counter threats posed by trusted insiders.

 

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Marin was the Director of the Office of Geography, assuming duties in April 2018. In that position he led NGA’s topographic and political and human geography missions, managing the provision of integrated geographic data, products, and services focused on high-priority regions of the world, in support of the warfighter and national security objectives.

 

In October 2015 he commenced a Joint Duty Rotation as the National Intelligence Collection Officer for the Near East, Office of the Director of National Intelligence. In that position he served as the National Intelligence Manager’s principal collection advisor and led the strategic alignment and integration of all Intelligence Community collection resources for maximum mission impact against national security issues.

 

Previous positions at NGA include Director of the Source Mission Integration Office, where he managed the end-to-end operational integration of all GEOINT sources, Chief of Staff for the Office of Expeditionary Operations/Afghanistan Mission Manager, Director of the Office of Time-Dominant Operations, and Country Lead for Iraq and Afghanistan.

 

As an Army intelligence officer Mr. Marin served around the world in a variety of command and staff assignments from tactical to strategic levels at the 66th Military Intelligence Group, 101st Airborne Division, V Corps, Joint Staff, and White House, among other postings, retiring as a colonel in 2011.

 

Mr. Marin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University and Masters of Science degrees in Strategic Intelligence and Strategic Studies from the National Defense Intelligence College and Army War College, respectively.

 

Mr. Marin and his wife Deidre have three adult children and live in Springfield.
